St. Vincent De Paul
What is SSVP?
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a society that is responsible for addressing the needs of the poor and less privileged people in our environ.
The society was founded in 1833 in France by Frederic Ozanam and his five companions, when challenged to show their works in order to prove their Catholic Faith.
“It is not enough to believe or even to defend the faith, not enough to adore the God of the Gospel, one must follow Christ in the service of the poor” St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660)
The SSVP Aims & Objectives
- To bring God’s love to the poor through alleviating their problems.
- To seek the personal sanctification of its members which bears fruit in acts of justice and charity towards those who are suffering.
- To ensure relief of the spiritual and corporal miseries of those in want.
- To cooperate with other similar organizations in a collaborative effort towards solving the problems of the widows.
- To show maximum love to the poor.
- To put in place a project that can be sustained and used in helping the poor.
